MEXICO CITY, Mexico (November 12, 2023) – Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak suffered a mild stroke while in Mexico City this week. The 73-year-old entrepreneur is now recovering at home in California.

Wozniak, affectionately known as “Woz,” experienced dizziness and confusion on Wednesday and was promptly taken to the hospital by paramedics. Doctors diagnosed him with a mild ischemic stroke, which is caused by a temporary interruption of blood flow to a part of the brain. Wozniak spent one night in the hospital and was then discharged.

“I’m back home and feeling good. Thank you for all your prayers and support,” Wozniak said in a statement.

Wozniak has had to cancel some of his planned appearances, including a scheduled TEDx conference in Mexico City. He is expected to make a full recovery.

About Ischemic Strokes

Ischemic strokes are the most common type of stroke, accounting for about 87% of all strokes. They occur when a blood clot blocks an artery that supplies blood to the brain. This can cause damage to the brain tissue and lead to a variety of symptoms, including weakness, numbness, and difficulty speaking or understanding speech.

Mild ischemic strokes often result in few or no long-term problems. However, it is important to seek medical attention immediately if you think you or someone you know is having a stroke. Prompt treatment can help to minimize brain damage and improve the chances of a full recovery.
