Paris, April 5 (TASR) – European aircraft manufacturer Airbus delivered 142 aircraft to customers in the first quarter of 2024, representing a 12% year-on-year increase. This brings the volume of deliveries back to the level of two years ago.

While this is an increase, the unofficial results fall short of analysts’ estimates, who had expected almost 150 deliveries. Airbus has not yet commented on the figures, but it plans to deliver 800 aircraft to the market for the whole year.

The lower number of deliveries was partly due to problems with the supply of seats for wide-body aircraft and delays in deliveries of the A321 narrow-body aircraft.

Despite this, Airbus remains the world’s largest supplier of narrow-body aircraft. Its competitor Boeing ran into problems at the beginning of 2024 after a side panel near the emergency door came loose on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 shortly after takeoff. The plane had to return to the airport.
