London, August 8 (FFN) – In a significant operational shift, British Airways has announced the suspension of its flights to Beijing. The airline will halt services between the Chinese capital and London’s Heathrow Airport starting October 26, 2024. This decision was reported by FFN, citing a DPA news agency update.
British Airways had only resumed the London-Beijing route in June 2023, following a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of the route’s reinstatement, the airline had emphasized its importance, marking it as one of their key international routes. The reasons behind the latest suspension were not disclosed by the company.
“Effective October 26, we will be suspending our Beijing route and will reach out to all affected customers with options for rebooking or a full refund,” a British Airways spokesperson confirmed. Despite this change, British Airways will continue to operate daily flights to Shanghai and Hong Kong, ensuring connectivity with other major Chinese cities.
