Dublin/Budapest, September 3 (financeflashnews.com) – European airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air announced on Tuesday that they achieved new monthly passenger records in August 2024. This marks a significant milestone for both low-cost carriers as they continue to expand their reach across Europe, according to a report by DPA.

Ryanair’s Record-Breaking Performance

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost carrier headquartered in Dublin, reported that it transported 20.5 million passengers in August, an increase of 8% compared to 18.9 million passengers in the same month last year. The airline’s load factor, which measures the percentage of available seats sold on flights, remained steady at 96%, the same as in August 2023.

Wizz Air’s Steady Growth

Hungarian airline Wizz Air also set a new record, carrying 6.2 million passengers in August, reflecting a 1% increase from 6.1 million passengers in August 2023. The load factor for Wizz Air’s flights improved to 95.4% this year, up from 94.1% in August 2023.
