Chicago, August 14 – Aircraft orders for U.S. manufacturer Boeing surged in July, following a sluggish first half of the year due to quality control issues. The company also posted strong results in terms of deliveries. This information comes from reports by AFP and Reuters.
Following the July Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom, Boeing recorded 72 gross orders, including 57 for its 737 MAX aircraft. This was an increase from 52 orders in the same month last year. The MAX models were primarily ordered by two leasing companies: Aviation Capital Group (ACG), which ordered 35 units, and Macquarie AirFinance, which ordered 20 aircraft.
Adjusted net orders (excluding cancellations) for the month also totaled 72 units.
The strong figures for July mark a significant turnaround compared to May, when Boeing recorded just three net orders, and June, when it reported 12.
For the first seven months of the year, Boeing secured 228 gross orders. However, after accounting for cancellations and conversions, the net orders stood at just 196. By comparison, Boeing had received 579 orders during the same period last year, according to the company’s website.
In terms of deliveries, Boeing handed over 43 commercial aircraft to clients in July, including 31 737 MAX planes.
To put this in perspective, Boeing’s European competitor Airbus delivered 77 aircraft to customers in July.
For the first seven months of the year, Boeing delivered a total of 218 aircraft, including 166 MAX models.
