Amsterdam, 9 September (FinanceFlashNews) – Dutch household spending rebounded in July, rising at the fastest pace in nine months after a decline in June. According to the Netherlands Statistics Office, consumer expenditures increased by 1.1% compared to the same month last year, offsetting June’s decline of the same magnitude. This marked the strongest growth in spending since October 2023, when it grew by 2.1%.
The growth was driven primarily by a 3.2% increase in spending on durable goods, including higher purchases of electronics and furniture. However, spending on food, non-alcoholic beverages, and tobacco continued to decline, though the rate of decrease slowed. In July, these categories saw a 1.5% drop, compared to a 2.4% decline in June.
