Berlin, June 24, 2024Football fans who flocked to Germany to watch Euro 2024 matches had a serious thirst. During the first week of the tournament, they consumed a staggering 44,000 liters of beer on Deutsche Bahn (DB) trains. This is double the usual amount of beer sold on DB trains.

In addition to beer, sausages were also a big hit among fans, with sales increasing by 63%. There was also increased demand for croissants, chili and vegetarian chili meals, as well as focaccia.

The services of Germany’s high-speed trains were used by more than 3 million fans during the first eight days of the tournament. Despite repeated disruptions on some key routes, DB thanked fans for their patience.

Deutsche Bahn is an official partner of Euro 2024 and, in addition to fans, its services are also being used by several teams during the tournament, including Switzerland and Romania. The German national team, as the host country, is traveling to matches by bus.

Euro 2024 runs until July 14 and is expected to bring Deutsche Bahn even further sales increases.
