Paris, August 2 (FFN) – France’s industrial production returned to growth in June, but at a slower pace than anticipated, according to data released by the country’s statistical office INSEE.
Industrial output increased by 0.8% month-on-month in June, following a 2.2% decline in May, INSEE reported on Friday. This result fell short of analyst expectations of a 1% increase. The data for the previous month was also revised downward, with the initial estimate of a 2.1% decline now standing at 2.2%.
Both the manufacturing and construction sectors contributed to the growth. Manufacturing production rose by 0.8% after a 2.7% drop in May, while construction saw a 1.8% increase following a 3.5% decline in the previous month.
The mining sector continued to grow, albeit at a slower pace. After a 0.8% increase in May, production in this sector rose by 0.7% in June.
On an annual basis, France’s industrial production continued to decline, although the pace of decline slowed. In June, it decreased by 1.64%, compared to a decline of over 3% in May.
