Washington, September 7 (FinanceFlashNews) — Stellantis, parent company of Chrysler, has initiated a global recall of 1.46 million vehicles due to a software malfunction in the anti-lock brake system (ABS), which could increase the risk of accidents. The recall predominantly affects Ram 1500 trucks from model years 2019 and 2021-2024, with most of the vehicles recalled in the United States, impacting 1.23 million vehicles.

In addition to the U.S., 159,000 vehicles in Canada, 13,000 in Mexico, and 61,000 in other markets are included in the recall.

Other Markets61,000

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the ABS malfunction may disable the electronic stability control (ESC) system, violating federal safety standards. If this occurs, warning lights for ABS, ESC, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Forward Collision Warning will illuminate, indicating system failure. Despite this, foundational braking will continue to function properly.

Stellantis has also recalled 33,000 Jeep Gladiator models (2020-2024) and Jeep Wrangler vehicles (2018-2024) due to potential internal short circuits in the instrument panel cluster. Stellantis emphasized that, so far, there have been no reports of injuries or crashes linked to these defects.
