Beijing, March 28 Tech giant Xiaomi is about to shake up the electric vehicle market. In Beijing, the company unveiled its first model, an SUV called the SU7, which is set to compete with Tesla and other established automakers.

Electric SUV priced lower than Tesla

The SU7 will be available in three versions: Standard, Pro, and Max. The price of the standard version will be 215,900 yuan (27,615 euros), undercutting the Tesla Model 3. The Pro and Max versions will cost 245,900 CNY and 299,900 CNY, respectively. Deliveries of the electric vehicles will begin in late April, but initially only in China.

Robots in Action: SU7 Production Every 76 Seconds

Xiaomi boasts a fully automated production line that allows it to produce one SU7 every 76 seconds. The company aims to become a leader in the electric vehicle segment under 500,000 CNY. However, the Chinese electric vehicle market is highly competitive, with a plethora of new models and falling prices. The Tesla Model 3 is currently the best-selling electric vehicle in China.

Xiaomi plans to launch more electric vehicle models in the future and become one of the leaders in this segment. Chinese automakers are becoming increasingly strong competitors on the global market, and the Xiaomi SU7 is a clear signal that Xiaomi is serious about electric vehicles.
